Meet Mendocino is published by Little River Inn, a family-owned inn on the Mendocino Coast since 1939. The Inn sits on Highway 1 in Little River, two miles south of the village of Mendocino, and the same family has run it ever since. Guests have asked the front desk where to eat, which beach to walk, and which winery is worth the drive for more than eighty years. This site is the written-down version of those answers.
The places we send our own guests – nothing paid for, nothing padded
How a place gets on the list
Every listing is somewhere we go ourselves and send our guests. There is no advertising on this site, no paid placement, and no directory padding. If a restaurant closes, changes hands, or stops being good, we take it down. If something new opens that we keep recommending at the desk, it gets a page.
We write about the coast from Westport to Point Arena and inland through Anderson Valley to Boonville, Philo, and Yorkville. That is the territory a guest can reach from Little River in a day and still be back for dinner.
Hours and details
We check hours, phone numbers, and websites against each business’s own listings. Hours on the coast change with the season and the weather, so call before you drive, especially in winter and on Mondays and Tuesdays. If a place on this site has closed, moved, or changed its hours, tell us and we will fix the page.
